For example, when reading Apples and Pumpkins by Anne Rockwell, our entire classroom reflects the story. 

• Dramatic Play: The center becomes a farm stand where children practice social roles and teamwork.
• Science Center: Real cut pumpkins and apples are available for hands-on sensory exploration. 
• Math Center: Children use tools to measure, count, and compare pumpkins and apples

Pacing and the Rhythm of the Day

Montessori classrooms feature long, uninterrupted work blocks where children can spend extended time on activities of their choice. In our school, children choose the learning centers they’d like to visit. If a child is deeply focused, we may encourage them to keep exploring. At other times, we might gently invite them to share a material or try a new task, helping them build flexibility, patience, and strong social skills.

Montessori rooms favor neutral tones, natural wood, and a simple, calm, orderly design. Children are grouped across a three-year age span in one classroom. Because a child can be in the same classroom for 3 years, they may have the same teacher all three years.

Our classrooms are bright, warm, and filled with colorful displays that showcase your child’s work, creative expressions, and families. Children are grouped with same-age peers, and children typically stay with their teacher for about a year before moving up to the next classroom. Plus, as our books and themes are regularly changing, the room updates, too – keeping school new and exciting!

The Role of the Teacher
